Don't be a Procrastinator !!! DO IT TODAY !

Maybe tomorrow .... These words are often said too many times to count. It's something that we ALL struggle with, just some may struggle more than others. We have thoughts that run rapid through our brains with tons of excuses as to why we "can't" do something instead of filling our minds with positive words of encouragement to just get out there and do it! Common thoughts we say to ourselves are: “I jam just too tired to workout”, or “I am still sore from yesterday's workout, or “I just don’t have the time to fit it in”. I know these feelings all too well because we are ALL human and sometimes the inner voice is loud and obnoxious.
So if you are one of the many who also struggle sometimes to get in a workout or maybe find a few extra minutes in the day, the tips below will help you TODAY instead of pushing it off until tomorrow!
-Wake up and workout in the morning !
Yes it will take some getting used to but there is some satisfaction knowing that you already accomplished something great for yourself while others didn't even roll out of bed yet. My theory for working out early is simple, there is nothing that can get in my way so I am 100% focused on what I need to get done. Stress from work, family, time... all those things can happen AFTER I workout!
-Schedule your workouts like you would a business meeting.
You wouldn't miss an opportunity with a potential client or business would you ? So why would you want to skip out on a workout for yourself that is just as important ! The time you set aside will have to be a time that you know you will make yourself a priority, and at a time that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt you will stay true to. If you let everyone around you know that you have set aside this time for your health and wellness, and that excluding any emergencies that time is set aside for you and is not to be compromised, people will then get the idea that you are not to be bothered and will respect your workout time.
-Make sure you have VARIETY.
When working out, you need to vary your workouts at least every 4 weeks. Your body adapts to external changes which means your variables now need to change. This can be adding in different moves or increasing work load. What ever it is, make sure you are doing something different every once in a while. This will not only keep you motivated but it will also challenge your body!
-Plan your workouts ahead of time.
Walking into the gym without a plan is just going to lead you frustrated and unfocused. Bring a notebook with you and record what you are doing along with the weights you used. Progression needs to be measured and if you don't know what you are doing week to week how do you know if you are making improvements? Planning keeps you focused on the task at hand !!
-Set realistic goals for yourself.
Setting a goal that is very hard to achieve in a short amount of time will become discouraging. You need to set up MINI goals along the way to the LARGE overall goal that you want to accomplish. For example: if you have a lot of weight to lose it most likely didn’t get there over night. Therefore it is unrealistic to expect that the weight will come off more quickly then you put it on. Set realistic goals for yourself. While you’re major goal may be to lose 50 pounds total, split your big goal in to mini goals. Take it 10 pounds at a time and then reward yourself with something you want each time you hit a new milestone. It feels a whole lot less overwhelming this way.
It is as simple as this. Your mind is the greatest obstacle to your personal success. If your focus on fitness has mentally gotten off track, take a step back and re-motivate yourself mentally. Be sure to remind yourself of all the reasons why it is important to stay fit, happy and healthy. Rededicate yourself to the most important asset and cause that you have, YOURSELF!
